Physical Therapy. Evidently I have some fancy word for "Runner's Knee". He was slightly concerned that he thought my pelvis might be uneven causing some issues. But then he didn't really say much more about that so I don't know whether that is truly a concern. Either way he uttered the words I was fearing. "Do not run." YUCK! He told me to cross train until I begin physical therapy at which point I can run. But I really don't want to miss another week of running...so I plan on sneaking some runs in and stopping if it really is painful.
I don't think I'm ever running a mostly downhill race again. EEEKS!

Was it Chondromalacia Patella or something like that? I have had problems with Runner's Knee since I was 14. I just kept getting stuck in physical therapy for a while, then I'd feel better temporarily and then I'd hurt again.
I recently started seeing a certified sports chiropractic physician/athletic trainer (she's a runner with my Team In Training group). She said my hips were uneven. She's adjusted me and I do a whole bunch of stretches every day and my knees are feeling better than they ever have. I hope it stays that way!
Good luck with your physical therapy! All of us in the VRC are rooting for you to get better...
Hmm... Blogger used my other blog ID on there just barely. I'm Jill Will Run from the VRC, just so you know who's commenting on here! ;-)
I doubt you want my advice, but I would do as the doc said. You don't want to do anything that worsens the problem and takes you out of running for even longer.
I start my physical therapy next week! Should we start our own club? hahaha
And I agree with all of the Jill's; the VRC is rooting for a speedy recovery!
I agree with chris... play it real safe. my gym has a zero-impact running machine thingy that i have yet to use, but does your have anything like that? as long as you keep cross training, you'll be fine. best to recover quickly than accidentally prolong it, right? :) good luck!
Sorry to hear about your knee, but at least you know what the problem is now and can work on it. And I agree...you don't want to do any serious damage, so stick with the cross-training for now. When do you start PT?
